July Re-Cap!

Hey everyone!

Hope you have had some time to enjoy the sunshine this summer. My apologies for being MIA here on the blog. I am constantly working on so many amazing projects that hopefully will be available to you soon. I’ve recently had some time to sit back and reflect on our first full month of summer. July has been filled with so many incredible events, and people.

July 7th Gaff Point Hike + Stretch

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to hike Gaff Point! For those of you who are unfamiliar, Gaff Point is a hiking trail off of Hirtles beach in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia. It is a beautiful path along the ocean, and is a great day trip for anyone looking to enjoy the out doors, while getting some great exercise. If you’re lucky, you may even find the ‘Secret Beach,’ or see some seals swimming in the ocean while hiking the trail.

The entire trail takes about two hours and thirty minutes to complete if you’re walking at a slow pace. Collectively, we hiked only part way. There is a large grassy area about twenty five minutes into the trail, which makes for the most beautiful stretch class location.

After our stretch class, people chose to do what they wished, whether it was completing the full hike, having a picnic on ‘Secret Beach,’ or heading back to the main beach, (Hirtles) for an afternoon swim.

Since the event, I have had so many inquires on if I would run a second Hike + Stretch, and the answer is YES!

Gaff Point Hike + Stretch 2.0 will be held on Sunday, August 18th. 10:00am start time.

*Although donations are accepted, this is a totally free event. All donations go towards improving the business. 🙂

July 12th Beads & Back Bends | Featuring: Rachael Jessup

It has been almost two years that I have been mentoring members of the Bridgewater Figure Skating Club. We cover a variety of things during out time spent together, some of which include: stretching, off-ice jumps/presentation, goal setting and cardio.

We learned that this summer would be a busy one, so rather than having weekly classes, we decided that it would be more efficient to create a collection of unique workshops that would allow the girls to be exposed to new activities, while continuing to grow into fabulous young ladies.

Rachael joined me to help make our “Beads and Backbends,” workshop a huge success. Rachael is a jack of all trades, specializing in home made jewelry, as well as wellness treatments, including Reflexology and Indian Head Massage. With Rachaels guidance, the girls created beautiful bracelets, using semi precious stones and .925 Sterling Silver charms, and had a semi private stretch class catered to back mobility and flexibility.

At our mid-way point of the workshop, we enjoyed Rachaels home made Mac n Cheese for dinner, along with some chaser salad fruit infused water, and yummy chocolate chip granola bars.

Our remaining summer workshops for girls in sport:

Intro to Nutrition – August 3rd

Self Care Spa Day – August 16th

End of Summer PARTY – August 24th

July 25th Pam’s Dockside Wellness Day

A few months ago, Pam got in touch and asked if Rachael and I would be willing to run a private wellness workshop from her home during her summer vacation. When she got into detail about her vision for the workshop, and shared details about her amazing location, we formed plans for the event. Sure enough, it was a huge hit!

We started the afternoon with a 45 minute stretch class on Pam’s dock that over looks the beautiful cove of Stonehurst, Nova Scotia. Afterwards, the ladies took some time to mingle and enjoy some tasty snacks as well as home made Sangria.

Next on their itinerary was an educational beading class with Rachael. The ladies learned about benefits of essential oils, meanings of semi precious stones, and how to string their one of a kind essential oil diffuser bracelet.

During the beading process, each participant was granted their choice of an Indian Head Massage of Thai Massage, ‘Mini Session.’

Thank you Pam for allowing us to come be a part of your special girls day!

July 23rd-27th Pvec Football Fundraiser

This year will mark my second season with the Parkview Panthers Football team. My roll with the team is head Athletic Therapist/Trainer. As the Panthers head in to their second ever season of being a Football team here on the South Shore, they are focusing on working together as a team, and improving from their opening season in 2018. They will be moving up a division, and are looking forward to the challenge.

During the South Shore Exhibition Weekend, the Parkview Panthers Football team took over the Lynds Den parking lot to raise funds for the 2019 season. The team brought in a total of $1893! Way to go Panthers!

You can find some of our Panthers in action this week at the Saint Mary’s Football annual Training Camp, where they will be working on improving their skills, and training with athletes from all over the province.

Parkview Panthers will host their home opener at the Kinsmen Field on September 22nd, at 4:30pm. They will host Auburn Highschool.
